The space on the paper is where I intended to paint the rest of my table top composition but it was never finished for the reasons mentioned in the post. Just been doing some more work on the miner to create a bit of context, not enough light to photograph it so I'll post it later.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09350381570737387904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3468843067640834925.post-45876412164682245502011-01-12T08:57:39.734-08:002011-01-12T08:57:39.734-08:00Caroline - Thanks so much for your kindness. When I fail to achieve that I am disappointed with my efforts. Hopefully this striving will be the vehicle by which I gain some improvement.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09350381570737387904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3468843067640834925.post-18597689028175657892011-01-12T06:13:03.501-08:002011-01-12T06:13:03.501-08:00I should have said I like the miner, and as someon...I should have said I like the miner, and as someone who was initially brought up in a mining village in the North-East, know what they look like.<br />The flower painting is nice and delicate.Peter Wardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07451951778074071828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3468843067640834925.post-16222057408993762212011-01-12T03:59:59.582-08:002011-01-12T03:59:59.582-08:00Glad you've stirred yourself out of your paint...Glad you've stirred yourself out of your painting inertia Mick! It is true that you get `ring rusty' if the paint box is closed too long (and the paints dry up). I've just this minute done another post on mine, flowers also as it happens but under quite different parameters. My only comment would be why don't you crop the flower painting in portrait format and get rid of that blank area on the right? I think that would work very well.Peter Wardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07451951778074071828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3468843067640834925.post-58360273084430641492011-01-12T02:40:39.681-08:002011-01-12T02:40:39.681-08:00You really have a technical eye Mick! To me the flowers are fresh looking and alive which is something that is not easy to achieve. The miner is well painted the paint is fluid and there are no hard edges it flows! Don't be so hard on yourself simply paint and let your ability to capture likeness and give the painting emotion free reign. Good to have you back blogging. It is never easy to make a start yet once we start it can be hard to stop painting!Caroline Simmillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09598525698486576546noreply@blogger.com
