Keep on Drawing

Another drawing, same model, my partner in crime, musician and artist Jed Grimes. This one looks a little more like him than the last one. Done with a 0.5 HB propelling pencil.

Jed - Graphite on Cartridge paper 8" x 6"

Have you seen Leonardos drawings Mick? Quite a few in the papers with this London exhibition. Eat your heart out. I already have. Just got my Dobson and Barrington Barber out again!!!

Peter - Yes, I've seen the various stuff in the newspapers and watched the Tim Marlow programme on Sky Arts. Breathtaking is all I can say. It's one of those exhibitions that makes you feel like packing it in. do't know if I can sneak off down to London to see it. Christmas approaches and the travel budget is looking threadbare after recent trips. But you never know.

Really good piece Mick! It seems to be a very natural drawing and reminds me a little of one of my favorites, Fairfield Porter. Cheers, Dan

Dan - Thanks. I'm getting a deal of pleasure out of working on my basics. Tonal studies are next.

The tones of the facial planes make the drawing 3D. Very good, Mick.Should be a big help when painting the portrait of Jed?

Ray - Thanks a lot. I'm hoping to use this as the basis of a painting. Seeing the planes is a help to giving volume to the image.
