Yet Another Iris

My love affair with the Iris carries on unabated and this is the latest from my collection. I think there are a few little adjustments to make before calling it finished.

I can understand your fascination Mick - there's something about the iris - this is another lovely one!

This is beautifully painted Mick. Must have taken you hours to do. It is so delicate. Are you aiming to become a botanical artist?

There is something about this one that pulls you in, you want to get into that center part and see it better, like this is just an iris-shaped little hobbit house and you want to see what or who is inside. Beautiful and intriguing, I think this macro version is my favorite so far.

Sharon - I'm besotted with them and keep being drawn back to them as a subject.

Ray - It did take a bit of time, largely because so much of it is done in multiple layers. I don't think I'm heading down the botanical artist route but that's not to say that I don't find flowers a fascinating subject for painting.

Rhonda - Thanks for the lovely comment. You describe the fascination of these wonderful blooms so well.

The colors and composition of this painting are gorgeous. It does pull you in. This may be the best so far. You handled the larger size extremely well.

Linda - Thanks a lot. I'm enjoying working at this size it gives you the chance to get some paint on to the paper and work it.

Much better than the previous ones.

Some lovely colours here Mick, and the background, for me, is much more successful. Needless to say, I am with you all the way on in the facination stakes!! I do like the close up arrangement. It would be interesting to see what it would look like a little off-centre with slightly more side view. I agree with previous comments.....the best so far!

Yvonne - Thanks for your continuing support and as always thanks for the inspiration that your work continues to give me. Your comment about composition is one that I'll think of when I get stuck into the next one.
