An Apple a Day

Continuing with the current obsession, I once again raided the fruit bowl. This time it was a couple of Braeburn apples. Hopefully there is some evidence of progression in this series, I'm finding it a little easier to work on the gesso boards and gaining a slightly better control over the paint. It's maybe time to move on to another type of subject matter, possibly landscape, but carry on using the small boards. I'm finding it a real stimulus to painting regularly, working on these supports. The size seems to make a difference to taking that first step and dipping the brush into the paint.

Stick with the fruit, a simple still life subject with no complications. You're doing great!

I found doing a painting-a-day challenge with a small format to be very, um, fruitful (sorry about the pun).

Your oils are coming along beautifully.

Lovely! I know how hard it is to keep the simple subjects interesting. Happy Painting!

Linda - I think that the fruit are not going to be far away from the still life table but I'm thinking of some other subjects to hit those small boards. Thanks for the kind words.

Nora - Thanks for visiting and the kind words. You are right, simple subjects have about them a lot of challenges and you have always been able to address them with success.

This painting is really good! that apple on the right is a lovely shape and the colours are nice too. I would also suggest keeping up with the small canvas and the still life as you are really getting on and producing some really good work here Mick!
