Garlic before Dinner

The last couple of weeks have been busy, roofers, painters, electrician and carpet layer. This has all meant no time for the paints. So it was with some relief that I was able to sit down for an hour or two before dinner. The fruit bowl was somewhat depleted after recent efforts at the easel so I picked a head of garlic from the cupboard prior to using it in the preparation of dinner.

Good to see you still working on this theme Mick. Keep them coming.
I'm going to go down a similar route with small regular (don't dare say daily) paintings. Tried a small acrylic the other night, posted on FB, but I've got to get the oils going now.
Do you find your subjects easily or do you spend ages wondering what to paint? Keen to know.

Colin - The answer is yes and no. I started off in fairly relaxed fashion just picking fruit or veg from the kitchen, then pinched a bowl or two to add other elements. I'm now finding it more difficult as I'm actively on the lookout for either fruit/ veg or bits of ceramic that might be useful. Went shopping today to find something a bit different, thought of figs but failed to find any. Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully something catches my eye.

Pomegranates are always interesting. I guess because the name is exotic? The red is great. This painting says you're moving towards moe complex subjects. Garlic cloves are not nice, neat, easily rendered tid-bits. Glad you got back on track. Household maintenance can get on the way of making art.

Linda - You are setting my shopping agenda. Might need a couple of days off as I'm heading down to London for another viewing of the Late Turner exhibition. Thanks again for your encouragement.

Have you seen the film Mr Turner? I simply loved it! I love this wee painting Mick it is very fresh looking and unfussy. Looking forward to seeing more of your little paintings soon.

Caroline - Yes I've seen the wonderful Mr. Turner, beautifully filmed and acted. Thanks for your kind words. The small paintings are keeping my interest levels high and I look forward to getting in front of the easel with my latest pickings from the fruit basket or fridge.
