Pair of Lemons

Back from London refreshed and in front of the easel again, so another small still life to keep my hand in. Much as I dislike shopping I think I'm going out today in search of new still life material, the fruit and vegetable baskets are seriously depleted. I'm also discovering an urge to look for interesting earthenware - what is happening to me?

You're enjoying painting from life. Find some interesting crockery for me please. I'm too lazy to go bric-a-brac hunting-- put on the boots, the muffler, the bubble coat, he gloves and ear muffs and hit the cold. Exhausting getting dressed for out. Love the lemons, the one on the outside has great shadows. The color contrast is brilliant.

Nice work Mick. Great texture. Reflected light of lemon on bowl?

Linda - thanks, it might be cold here but you seem to be getting real snow storms in NE US Hope you aren't adversely affected. Finding it difficult to find what I want in the ceramic line.

Hi Mick. I do really like these still life paintings that you have been doing recently. I think the pair of apples is particularly good.

I have just found your comment on my gourds in my junk mail. I have been having problems with lots of stuff ending up there, without my knowledge. I am sorry, therefore that I did not reply promptly. I have now written one on that post page.
Hopefully I have now resolved the issue and received your comment on the nasturtiums in the usual way. Happy painting!

I'm having the same issue Mick. Every time I see a piece of fruit I can't decide whether to photograph it, paint it or just eat it.
I too keep looking out for interesting objects which could find their way into a painting.
I've started an ideas book too in case my brain can't keep up.

Colin - That sounds so well organised, I keep promising myself that I might do that. Like lots of good ideas, once had they get quickly forgotten. Or maybe my age is catching up with me.

Well you can't eat lemons, Mick, so you might as well paint them. Nice, fresh, vivid yellows you have there. I'm thinking of investing in some lemons myself for the same reason. Come to think of it, a slice of lemon goes so well with Tanqueray gin and Schweppes tonic...

Ken - You are a gentleman for passing on such sound advice, I'm off to the drinks cupboard. Thanks for dropping by.
