This was the photograph I chose for the March renewal of my monthly project with my friend Peter Ward (watercolourfanatic.blogspot.com). The picture was taken on a trip during 2010.
My first thought on this was that the composition was awkward for a painting, so I decided to use the elements, slightly rearranged, and change the format to landscape. The next decisions were in relation to producing a convincing depth of field.
Roll on next month and a new project.

That's very nice Mick! Much better than my virtual copying of the photo. Still you did have the advantage of actually going there (grin). Love the composition. I've sent the April challenge. Have you received it?
Peter - Thanks very much. Actually the really enjoyable thing about doing this was the re-living of the experience. Yes, I've received the next challenge, we'll be playing in your court with that one.
Beautiful watercolour washes Mick, you really have captured the light and atmosphere of a very warm day out in that area. The monumental rock is impressive yet delicately painted. Very nice work Mick.
Caroline - Many thanks. I really appreciate your encouragement.
